Wind Dancer Ranch is home to a cherished collection of rare heritage breed sheep, hogs, turkeys and goats that are adapted to our northern California environment of hot dry summers and normally wet winters.  They are raised with respect and care for their mental and physical health; they are free range in large pastures living in natural herds and flocks.  The farm has established a peaceful coexistence with the local wild predators thanks to their two types of Livestock Guardian Dogs and aerial predation protection provided by the heritage turkeys.

Heritage breed livestock’s innate ability to live outdoors and thrive in this climate allows the ranch to operate as naturally as possible.  They never use chemicals, herbicides or pesticides on their farm.  The sheep and goats graze on both green and dry grasses, control weeds and provide natural fertilizer.  Most of the ranch is dry farmed reserving water use for just a few critical areas that help balance out summer’s dry diet.
