Plans for Purslane
Purslane may be a new to many of our customers, but those who garden may recognize it as a volunteer that often pops up in the yard. Here are some simple ways to use purslane.
Preparation
Remove the purslane leaves from the stems and rinse them. Leave them whole or slice them as you see fit for the recipe.
Simple Recipe Ideas
Use fresh leaves (sliced or whole) in salad
Cook like you would spinach, either steamed, sauteed or stir-fried
Slice and include fresh in an omelet or fritata
Boil briefly and saute with garlic and other vegetables and/or pork (optional) and serve in a tortilla (a traditional Mexican dish)
