Dolly’s Persimmon Cookies
When Jeanette saw our persimmons for sale she couldn’t stop talking about her mother’s delicious cookie recipe, which happens to be her all-time favorite cookie. I persuaded her to share it with us so here it is – what a perfect holiday treat – thanks Dolly!
Ingredients

- 2 cups flour
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 cup persimmon pulp
Preparation
Sift flour, soda and spices together. Add raisins and nuts. Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually. Beat in egg and pulp. Add flour, nuts and raisins. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in hot oven for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. They should be moist and delicious!
