We’re Listening – Exciting Plans for 2010!

Many thanks to all who completed our recent member survey. The response rate was high, and we truly appreciate your feedback! We want to share with you the highlights and let you know our upcoming plans to address what our members care about.
We saw some consistent themes regarding customization, special orders and essentially, the desire for more options. As a result, we are implementing a new system over the next couple of months that will enable you to add special items to your box – such as eggs, honey, olive oil, and much more – on a weekly, bi-weekly or on-the-fly basis (and if you can’t wait, send us an email and we’ll get you started on our beta program right away!). We also plan to create a new offering – in addition to the Peck and the Bushel – that’s designed with snacking in mind (think nuts, dried fruits and seasonal fresh fruit). We will continue to look at ways to offer added customization for those who would rather choose what’s in their box. This will help those of you who want a heavier dose of fruits to veggies, as well as those who need more control over quantities.
Everyone loves recipes and wants more! We especially appreciated the request for recipes that encourage branching out – e.g., mashing your turnips and potatoes together for modified mashed potatoes. We’re all about fostering creativity and empowerment in the kitchen, and knowing what ingredients can be substituted for others is a great way to make this happen. We’re continuing to enhance our recipe database along with searching capabilities on the website, so check them out any time at www.CapayValleyFarmShop.com. There were also several requests for tips on food storage. We’ve added a section to our newsletter each week – Caring for and Enjoying Your Produce – that explains how to store each item in that week’s box to ensure maximum life.
Lastly, renewing your subscription is harder than it should be and we’re working to fix that. Our new system will allow you to sign-up — and manage your order, scheduled deliveries, and pay as you go — until you opt out; eliminating the requirement to manually renew your subscription every month or quarter.
We are sincerely interested in creating a fantastic, fun, farm direct experience for our members and the only way we can do that is by learning what matters to you. So, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, suggestions, joys and disappointments – we’re always thrilled to hear from you!
P.S. While we know there are no winners or losers, there was a winning quote: “sign me up for the rest of my life.”
