On the Verge of Summer

Every year at this time, there’s a feeling of anticipation in the air mixed with excitement and hope. For many farms in the Capay Valley, summer is the time to give more than 110% — work long hours in the intense heat planting, harvesting, driving, selling. Summer is when farms can make the extra income to help buy new equipment, replace something that’s broken, or put some money away for safekeeping.
We have been preparing all winter for this, and are still preparing, even as the squash and apricots and basil come trickling in. If everything goes as expected, once July hits and we are heading into August, a deluge of crops will be upon us and our job will be to get those crops to you. Melons, corn, peaches, nectarines, beans, eggplant, squash, cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, and more — overflowing, ripe, fresh, and delicious.
Summer is almost here, and we have our work boots on. Are your taste buds ready?
