Full Belly Farm – A Productive Place

By Nina Andres
What comes to mind when I think of my neighbors down the road at Full Belly Farm — a farm whose produce appears regularly in your FarmShares? Productive. Really productive. Both in terms of the food produced and the community made.
Full Belly Farm is a 250-acre certified organic farm located in Guinda in the Capay Valley Operated by four farm owners, Andrew Brait, Paul Muller, Judith Redmond, and Dru Rivers, along with their families and about 50 employees. The farm has used organic practices since its inception in 1985 to produce an amazing diversity of vegetables, herbs, nuts, flowers, and fruits year-round.
In addition to abundant and delicious crops Full Belly Farm provides many opportunities for folks to learn about farming and what it is like to live on a farm. Those who come for a school group stay, a farm tour, or to the annual Hoes Down Harvest Festival all leave with a better sense of agriculture and great memories of harvesting and tasting delicious food.
